Waste Management

Waste Management

At Kellogg we are always looking for ways to improve our waste management programs. We practice the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. At two of our cereal plants we have implemented a program that diverts an additional 1,000 tons of waste per year from landfills to recycling.

Water is critical to our business, and we’re doing our part to minimize our water use. Our Queretaro, Mexico, plant reuses 57 million gallons of water each year. Plant wastewater is given extra treatment so it can be reused to irrigate company-owned athletic fields.

Did You Know ...

  • More than 80 percent of the waste generated in our manufacturing facilities is recycled?
  • That 25 million pounds of paper packaging has been eliminated through a project with our supply chain to reduce waste associated with bulk material shipping?
  • In early 2007, washing equipment was redesigned to reduce water use by 7 million gallons?
